Meet the Committee!

RICE is fully student run and organized. These VCU students have volunteered their time and effort to make this expo a success!

Head of Committee

She/They | VCU '26
Anne is a queer, Chinese American artist with an interest in stories that creatively break boundaries. Through various mediums, their work focuses on the bittersweet nature of life and love. She hopes RICE gives people the chance to interact with talented artists who share similar interests.

He/Him | VCU '23
Maddox “Ox” Strout is a queer, cripplepunk artist whose passion for storytelling knows no one medium. He volunteered for RICE ‘21 and has been here ever since. “Dragon kid” and “bug lover” are titles from childhood he still wears with pride.

Asia Rorick
Programming Coord.

She/Her | VCU ‘24

Asia is a Communication Arts senior, illustrator and occasional animator. She is a long time RICE shopper, first time RICE team member and is excited to get to know local storytellers! When she isn’t drawing, she loves to spend time outside in her small vegetable garden with her two cats Hachi and Nobu.

Treasurer

She/Her | VCU ’25
Cassidy is a Junior Communication Arts major. This is her first year working with RICE but she is incredibly excited to be involved. She loves painting and creating bright colorful artwork. When not drawing she loves to read, crochet, and collect dolls.

She/Her | VCU ‘24

Piper is a Painting and Printmaking senior! She volunteered for RICE ‘22 and decided to become a part of the team. Zines and comics have been a part of her life since childhood through reading them and creating a bunch of them. In her downtime she also knits, plays video games, and visits art museums.

Malaika is a Communication Arts junior focused on creating comics and illustrations. Some of her favorite subjects include Bovidae-humanoids, the American Southwest, and buff ladies. You can usually find her overspending at artist alleys and collecting earrings.

Reese is a Communication Arts junior and illustrator. They aim to make art that teaches people about the environment and how to protect it. They spend their free time reading comics and watching cartoons.

Taylor is a Communication Arts senior who is passionate about creature design and cool art. She has been a fan of dragons for ages, and desires to capture that fantasy magic in her own work. As a first-time RICE team member, she is thrilled to interact with more artists in the comic scene.

David is a Communication Arts junior and queer Chinese-American animator and artist. They worked as a RICE volunteer last year, where they fell in love with it. They hope to bring their experience with merchandise design and passion for indie comics into this year’s visual art.

Viv is a queer, Asian illustrator and comic artist with an interest in making art that warms hearts! Their work often focuses on themes of queerness, marginalization, and utopia. When not working on art, they can be found playing DnD, any number of colorful video games, or entertaining their two cats, Hugh and Maple. :-)
